Interesting W.A. Criswell Article

The Dallas Morning News has an interesting article on W.A. Criswell, the long-time pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas and the leader of the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention. As anyone who has read Joel Gregory's book, it is easy to glean to amount of energy Criswell put into accruing wealth. The article confirms the Criswells died with more than five million dollars.

Everyone close to situation knows he took advantage of the church, his postion and the old women of the church to make himself a very wealthy man. He like many others started out with the best of intentions but it changed from reaching the world to growing a legacy for himself. Even through old man Hunt's kept woman.

That is very interesting ... particularly coming from someone withe presumed close ties to the church. Give Criswell credit. Whether making himself rich or launching a coup against the Southern Baptist Convention, he was a shrewed son of a gun.
